A winding pathway draws you into the woods of Rockport, a small village along the St. Lawrence River. Rich greens mingle with touches of autumn gold and orange, while the curving path disappears quietly among the trees. The strong colour and layered painterly texture capture the feeling of wandering through one of the river communities of the Thousand Islands.

This artwork began with my own photograph, taken at Upper Canada Village in Eastern Ontario. Back in the studio, I transformed the original image through layers of digital editing and AI-assisted tools, developing the colour, texture and painterly character while preserving the people, place and composition I originally photographed.

How My Artwork Is Created

All of my artwork begins with a photograph I’ve taken myself.

I start with a real place I’ve visited, composing and photographing the scene through my own camera. Back in the studio, I work with that photograph through layers of digital editing and AI-assisted tools, refining colour, texture, light and detail until it becomes the finished painterly artwork you see here.

The technology is part of my creative process, but the photograph, artistic direction and final selection are mine.

The photograph comes first. The artwork grows from there.
